New Rocky River Store's Customers Donate to Local Charity
(Rocky River, OH - August 25, 2006) Embellish customers raised nearly $1,000 for Dress for Success Cleveland last night at its silent auction. The auction was part of A Denim Affair, a fundraising gala attended by approximately 200 people at Myers University Club in Cleveland.
The silent auction included 15 pieces of jewelry created at Embellish by customers who donated them to benefit Dress for Success, the organization that provides interview-appropriate clothing to women working to achieve self-sufficiency. The highest bid for the jewelry went to a necklace named "Icy Earth," by Carol Lillich of Stow, Ohio. For this honor, Lillich wins a $40 gift certificate to Embellish, the new create-your-own jewelry and accessories store that opened July 1, 2006 at 19055 Old Lake Road in Rocky River.
Beside "Icy Earth," the jewelry table at the silent auction featured a watch, bracelets and necklaces designed with a variety of materials, including lampwork (handmade glass beads), sterling silver, semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals. Other items sold at A Denim Affair included tickets to Jay Leno and wearable denim art designed and autographed by celebrities and local artists.
"Embellish made a huge contribution to our organization last night," said gala co-chair and board member Lauren Wolf. "The money raised will provide comprehensive services for at least one woman to ensure her family's independence, life skills education for a year and employment-appropriate clothing."
Store owner Laura Jacobs gave kudos to all who donated their designs. "Most of these ladies had no jewelry making experience. Yet they all can be proud to know their creations will be treasured not just by their new owners, but by the women and their families who benefit from this tremendous organization."
