Creative Jewelry Raises Funds to Dress Women in Need
(Rocky River, OH - October 17, 2007) Embellish customers raised $1,675 for Dress for Success Cleveland at its silent auction earlier this month. The auction was part of A Denim Affair, a fundraising gala attended on Oct. 4 by approximately 200 people at Sammy's at Legacy Village.
The silent auction included 19 pieces of jewelry created at Embellish by customers who donated them to benefit Dress for Success, the organization that provides interview-appropriate clothing to women working to achieve self-sufficiency. The highest bid for the jewelry went to a bracelet named "Jackie-O," by Lauren Wolf of Orange Village, Ohio. For this honor, Wolf wins a $50 gift certificate to Embellish, the create-your-own jewelry and accessories store at 19055 Old Lake Road in Rocky River.
Beside "Jackie-O," the jewelry table at the silent auction featured a watch, a beaded evening bag, bracelets and necklaces - all designed at Embellish with a variety of lampwork (handmade glass beads), sterling silver, semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals. Other items sold at A Denim Affair included tickets to Jay Leno, a Vegas getaway, fashion and beauty packages, as well as tickets to local sport and live theater events.
The money raised will provide comprehensive services for women in need, which will ensure their family's independence, life skills education and employment-appropriate clothing.
Store owner Laura Jacobs congratulated all who participated in three special parties this summer to create jewelry for the auction.
"Each piece was unique, and the ladies had a ball creating their items for auction," Jacobs said. "It was heart-warming to watch the auction winners get excited about these special gifts for themselves and others. We hope they'll get the bug to come in and create their own wearable works of art."
