Embellished Snowflakes Benefit Neighbors in Need
(Rocky River, OH - January 2, 2008) Wondering how you can play in the snow without getting wet? Embellish customers learned how this past holiday season, when they created beaded snowflake ornaments to benefit charity. Customers of all ages designed the snowflakes using various glass beads, and proceeds from their purchases raised $400 for the Rocky River Assistance Program.
The Rocky River Assistance Program provides food to income eligible families in Rocky River. Currently 85 families are served by the program, which is run by the Rocky River Junior Women's Club.
Many of the snowflake ornaments were created at All Aglow, the Rocky River tree lighting festival. Several others were created by area Girl Scouts and families as holiday gift projects. Snowflake projects were available during November and December at Embellish, the create-your-own jewelry and accessories store at 19055 Lake Road in Rocky River.
Earlier in December, Embellish and its neighbors in the Old River Shopping Area designated the Rocky River Assistance Program as the charity to benefit from 2007's Old River Holiday Walk. At that event, held Dec. 1, 2007, Embellish and the other retailers of Old River raised nearly $650 through donations, as well as a raffle where customers guessed which shop windows represented the "12 Days of Christmas."
"We are blessed to be part of such a wonderful community," said Embellish owner Laura Jacobs. "Snowflake ornaments and the Holiday Walk were a fun and easy way to benefit our neighbors most in need."
