FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Spring Cleaning Connects Shoppers
to Old River Merchants on May 2, 2009
(Rocky River, OH - March 31, 2009) The weekend before Mother's Day, Embellish and other participating merchants in Rocky River's Shops of Old River will offer discounts, provide cleaning services and encourage customers to share the bounties of their own spring cleaning efforts.
On Saturday, May 2, select merchants - including Adesso Fashion for Men, Embellish, Geiger's Store for Women and Innuendo - will accept donations of gently used clothing, which will benefit the charities Suited for Men and Dress for Success. Style Mutt invites customers to donate gently used dog toys, which will in turn benefit Love-A-Stray. The Perfect Bride will accept prom dresses to be donated to Fairy Godmother. River Gallery encourages patrons to bring in used books, which will be donated to the Rocky River Public Library. Many retailers will offer discounts for that day to all customers who donate.
Other merchants will demonstrate cleaning services. Mitchell Sotka will promote a line of silver cleaners, Green Clean will feature its environmentally friendly cleaning products and Embellish will offer free jewelry cleaning all day, in exchange for a donation to Dress for Success.
Many merchants - including Amy's Shoes, Charles Scott Salon & Spa, Off the Wall Gallery, Paper Trails, Peneventures, Pzazz and Solari - will offer discounted merchandise. And, Embellish is encouraging customers to bring in their personal stashes of beads for a "swap meet" - enabling customers to trade supplies they no longer want with other bead enthusiasts.
The day-long event ushers in the return of pedestrian season. Once again, the Shops will host a monthly "Sip N Stroll" - on the second Thursday of each month this summer beginning May 14 at 5 p.m. Participating merchants provide wine tasting or other treats and encourage customers to browse and shop while enjoying an evening stroll.
The Shops of Old River are located at the intersection of Detroit and Wooster/Old Lake Roads in Downtown Rocky River.
